Sugam Samarpanam

Sugam Samarpanam is an annual school holiday cultural camp, where participants attend a 14-day training period at Sugam Karnatica’s centre in Petaling Jaya, before putting up a grand stage production at the end of the camp. It began more than three decades ago and has grown into a much-anticipated year end program with a growing number of participants every year.

Sugam Samarpanam was born when a group of children came together and put up a small show filled with songs, drama and dancing for their families during the school holidays.

Years later, the pioneers of Sugam Samarpanam went on to establish Sugam Karnatica, and placed Sugam Samarpanam as a permanent programme under the organisations wing. Today, more than 30 years later, the tradition still continues as the programme sees nothing less than 150 participants annually.

Psychologists have shown that the left hemisphere of the brain tends to concentrate verbal and symbolic logical reasoning, while the right hemisphere tends to concentrate spatial and holistic reasoning.

Since the brain is divided, it is crucial to make connections between the right and left side.

Focusing on stimulation of both sides is therefore of major importance in creating a well-balanced individual.
